How to choose an apartment entrance door: what to read in the spec

An apartment door does a different job from a house door: it faces the stairwell, so security, quiet and a durable finish matter most. Below are the specification lines worth comparing.

Leaf thickness and weight

In our range the leaf runs from about 70 to 105 mm and the weight from roughly 48 to 115 kg. A thicker, heavier leaf usually means a sturdier build, but it also loads the hinges and the opening more.

Locks

Most doors have two locks: a lever and a cylinder lock. Our range uses ARIKO, KALE, AVERS, Securemme and Mottura locks. Some models also have a night bolt.

Threshold

Many models have a stainless steel threshold. It resists wear, which matters at an entrance.

Finish

Many doors are faced with 10 mm MDF, and the outside and inside colours can differ. Choose the colour to suit the stairwell and the hall.

Peephole and extras

Most models have a peephole, some a mirror on the inside. Check what you need.
